Various activities are being held in Israel to mark the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day. During World War II, six million Jews were killed by Nazi Germany. Now a two-minute siren is being sounded throughout Israel to honor these victims.
Israel is now holding an official wreath-laying ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem. Holocaust survivors and government officials including President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are attending the event. The commemoration includes a reading of the names of some of those who perished in the Holocaust, from 1941 to 1945.
