Full coverage: The South China Sea Issue
The award issued on in the South China Sea case claimed called Taiping a reef rather than an island. Former leader of Taiwan, Ma Ying-Jeou, has published a document criticising the arbitration panel for knowing nothing about Taiping Island.
In the document, he presents 10 suggestions. Ma says authorities should put an ad on mainstream media and social media networks, reclaiming Taiwan's sovereignty over Taiping Island, and that Taiwan will not accept the tribunal's incorrect judgement over Taiping Island.
Ma suggests that Taiwan's current leader Tsai Ying-Wen call on foreign affairs agencies and agricultural departments to restart negotiations with the Philippines over overlapping economic waters. He also gives advice on how to strengthen Taiwan's maritime and air law enforcement abilities.
