Dogs and their owners competed in the first Rio Dog Olympic Games on Sunday. Dozens of dogs of all breeds and sizes vied for medals at a private dog club in the Rio neighborhood Barra da Tijuca.
Organizers said the event aimed to provide an avenue for humans and pets to socialize while celebrating the Olympic spirit.
The competition took place mostly in a swimming pool and included aquatic jumping, ball chasing and agility games. Organizers plan to hold the event again next year.
