The number of mainland tourists has increased everyday in March, nudging the current limit. And it's estimated that number will continue to climb as Tomb-sweeping Day approaches.

Insiders from the island's tourist industry have been calling for the increased limit. Figures show more than 200-thousand mainlanders have visited Taiwan this year. And Taiwan authorities predict tourist numbers will surge by 25-percent year on year. Mainlanders are expected to contribute more than 12 billion New Taiwan Dollars to the island this year.
