The Chairman of Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation says they hope to see the signing of a long-awaited cross-Strait economic pact by the end of June.
Chiang Pin-kung says the two-days of talks on the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, which ended on Thursday at a Taiwan resort in Taoyuan, made progress and future negotiations would focus on the details of the pact.
Chiang says it'll take a while to finalize the list of the "early harvest program" and the text of the pact in future negotiations.
He adds that the two sides are also working on the entry of financial sectors based on the Memorandum of Understanding in the banking, insurance and security sector.
He hopes Taiwan's financial companies can operate on the mainland, and contribute to cross strait economic cooperation.
