Special Report: Yuan Not to Blame for Trade Surplus |
Vice Premier Wang Qishan has held talks with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in Beijing. They exchanged views on economic relations and the global economic situation.
Wang and Geithner also discussed issues related to the upcoming China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue to be held in Beijing in late May. A brief statement made no reference to whether the RMB exchange rate was discussed on Thursday. However the decision to hold such a high-level encounter suggests the two countries are moving toward resolving the currency dispute, which has threatened to overshadow cooperation on the global economy.
