"Kungfu Hero," a martial arts actioner invested by Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves started shooting this week. A grand ceremony was held on Tuesday in Beijing.
Tiger Chen, a protege of action director Yuen Woo-ping, is set to make his debut with "Kungfu Hero," a comedic martial arts story directed by Mainland filmmaker Ning Yong and Yuen's brother Yuen Cheung-yan. Chen coached Keanu Reeves on his screen fighting during the making of the Matrix trilogy, and the two subsequently became friends. As such, Reeves has become an investor in the production.
Tiger Chen is not a familiar name to the Mainland audience. He is the action director for such notable productions such as Matrix, Charlie's Angels, Fearless, Night Banquet, and King of Kungfu. The new production, Kungfu Hero promises just as many dazzling moves. It's said that the film contains a seven-minute fight sequence.
Chen Hu, actor, said, "It's a long sequence, which is demanding for the actors both physically and in terms of their moves. It's probably the longest continuous sequence in film history. I hope very much that we accomplish it with panache. "
The leading actress of the show is Jiang Mengjie, who plays an English teacher and is expected to fall in love with the protagonist.
"Kungfu Hero" tells the story of a man who fulfills his own dream through giving help to a child. The film will be shot in Dali, Ruili, Sanya, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. It's scheduled to screen next Summer.
