In Hong Kong, the big-screen New Year comedy "72 Leasers of Prosperity" met the local press. Still a work in progress, the production is scheduled to open during the Spring Festival this coming February.
The cast of "72 Leasers of Prosperity" features as many as 174 star entertainers. Among them are Eric Tsang, Jacky Cheung, and Anita Yeun.
The story is set in contemporary Hong Kong. It's about how dozens of local residents try to make a fortune by leasing their properties to grocers and vegetable vendors.
The singer and actor Jacky Cheung plays a lead role in the story. Recent years have seen few appearances of Jacky Cheung on the big screen. Eric Tsang said that Jacky Cheung actually was quite interested in making movies, that is, when he is not occupied with family affairs.
Eric Tsang, director, said, "Actually we have finished about one third of the shooting so far. There's still a long way to go. Also, we've covered only one third of the sets and locations and actors. Surely the number of actors will exceed one hundred. As a result, it poses a problem to arrange the schedule. All of the actors are very busy people. So we have to catch them whenever they are available. "
In the movie, Jacky Cheung plays a man from middle to old age. He had his hair dyed to a mature salt-and-pepper look, and he finds the role to be a fulfilling challenge.
