Yo-Yo Ma releases musical biography

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma has played packed arenas and concert halls all over the world. To celebrate his 30-year career, the classically trained musician has recently released a box set of CD's that spread out on 90 discs. For true die-hard fans of Yo-Yo Ma, the set won't come cheap. It retails for 789 US dollars.

"Yo-Yo Ma: 30 Years Outside the Box," contains songs from classical music mainstays such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach... but also includes tracks of folk songs from several cultures. It even contains works composed by some of Ma's contemporaries like James Taylor and Bobby McFerrin.

The cellist describes the set as a musical biography, chronicling the friends he has made and learned from along the way.

Yo-Yo Ma said, "One of the things that makes me think about something like 30 years of recorded music, I don't usually like to look in the past, because I'm so focused on the present and the future, and one of the things that sort of ties everything together in my mind, is I was looking at that Set, and I was thinking, you know, it's all the people that have guided me to different areas."
