Mother's Day may have originated in the US, but more and more people around the world are honoring their mothers, or motherhood, on this special day. CCTV's reporter is in the northern city of Changchun, and takes a look at how people there are going to observe the occasion.

Mother’s Day is a celebration to honor the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. In China, people celebrate the day on the second Sunday of May. Now let's go and find out how people in China would like to honor their mothers.

"I'm going to give my mom a big surprise today. I am going to buy a gift -- a vacuum cleaner -- and bring it to her later tonight."

"I have already booked a restaurant. I'm going to take my mom for dinner."

"I am going to buy a gift, and cook for her tonight. "

"I am going to buy some good food for my mom, and take her to a park to make her happy on Mother's Day."
