Albania was facing Romania in the last round of competition in Group A. Both teams were winless through the first two rounds and had no chance to catch the leaders of their pool, France and Switzerland. But with the top four third placed teams also earning a spot in the round of 16, the winner of this one might just have a chance to continue at the tournament.
Juding by the first 25 minutes it seems that the match would go Romania's way as they dominate the play.
But when they do have the ball, it's Albania whose attacks pose a greater threat and they are able to break through two minutes before half-time when striker Armando Sadiku meets a cross at the far post and heads it past Ciprian Tatarusanu .
It's Albania's first goal ever at a major tournament and it would be the only goal of the night as it finishes 1-0.
Romania are eliminated while Gianni De Biasi's side must wait to see if they are one of the four best third-placed teams.
Switzerland and France played out a goalless draw which took the Swiss into the last 16 and saw the French win the pool with 7 points. Albania are now third while Romania have been eliminated. France will play the third-placed team from either Group C, D or E in Lyon on Sunday.
